Royal Caribbean International

Interactive Panoramic E-learning

Adventure without the high seas.

Royal Caribbean is an international cruise line with some amazing ships and cruises. The staff to pull off these great experiences are large, international and dedicated.

New officers and crew rotate in often and the only proper way to train the staff used to be to park a cruise ship at great cost and train everyone. We set out to create an immersive e-learning game for the crew to play before coming on board.

Me and my team at Anthem worked closely with corporate e-learning veteran, Becker Multimedia to build an unprecedented e-learning course custom for the cruise line. Leveraging 360 degree panoramic photography and a custom 3D engine written in ActionScript 3. The course included interactive tours that anyone could explore on a computer. Each area was littered with interactive hotspots that guided employees through audio, video, quizzes and various interactive elements to learn about their duties on the ship.

The e-learning experience featured over 6 hours of gameplay and was delivered worldwide to various seasonal employees via hiring agencies.
