From promising prototype to cohesive product
Establishing a clear product vision
When I joined the team in July 2025, the game had a fun and compelling core loop and had just introduced cash-based play but lacked a unifying product strategy. I worked closely with design, engineering, and leadership to define a clear vision for the experience: aligning gameplay systems, progression, and live-service cadence around long-term player engagement and competitive integrity.
Building the right systems one step at a time
The road to glory
I led the overhaul or update of many of the game’s less mature systems, including progression, economy, and early gameplay experience. Each system was updated to reinforce the already solid core gameplay loop and built into a mid-term roadmap, planned against limited resources across monthly releases internally branded "The Road to Glory"
World-building & onboarding
Creating a cohesive world players can invest in
Early-on, I identified a gap between the strength of the game’s systems and the clarity of its world. To address this, I led efforts to establish greater lore consistency, introduce new characters, and expand tutorial and single-player-focused content. These additions provided narrative context for gameplay mechanics, helping players understand not just how to play, but why the world exists and why they are fighting.
This work included aligning narrative beats with core systems, updating art to support tone and character identity, and using guided single-player experiences (Quests) as a foundation for onboarding. By grounding mechanics in story and presentation, we began transforming Price of Glory from a collection of strong systems into a more cohesive, living world: giving players clearer reasons to engage, learn, and remain invested over time (and eventually to buy content packs and cosmetics).
Content pipeline & tooling
Transforming maps into a scalable content system
I spearheaded the evolution of the map system from a high-effort, manually authored asset into a modular, JSON-based system with versioning. What began as a way to speed up map creation quickly became the foundation for Quests: a single-player tutorial and broader PvE content pipeline.
By designing the system to support dialogue, triggers, responses, objective customization, and a lightweight rules engine, we enabled faster iteration, improved onboarding, and the ability to introduce new content without requiring a new client build. In parallel, we begin slowly updating the art pipeline to support dynamic tiles and 3D assets, paving the way for more expressive environments.
While still evolving, this system now forms the backbone of a dynamic content pipeline: positioning the game for more powerful future tools, including user-generated maps and quest plus a custom game browser.
Internal tools & workflows
Accelerating content creation through AI-assisted tooling
To fully unlock the new JSON-based content system, I designed and built a set of internal development tools using AI-assisted code workflows (Lovable + React). Working directly at the data layer, I created a map editor, quest builder, and story planning tool that allowed designers to author, iterate, and validate content without engineering support.
By integrating at the JSON level, these tools dramatically reduced iteration time and removed the need for engineers to spend cycles on custom tool development beyond essential backend management. This approach saved hundreds of engineering hours while enabling faster experimentation, higher content throughput, and a more scalable live-service workflow.
The road to glory continues
Built in public through early access
Price of Glory is being developed as a sustainable live-service game alongside a growing, engaged community. Rather than waiting to ship a fully “finished” experience, Marauder Tech has embraced an early-access approach: building more openly and iterating in real time with players.
By developing in public, the team invites players to actively shape the game. Feedback is gathered, evaluated, and directly integrated into ongoing releases, allowing the experience to evolve through collaboration while maintaining a steady monthly delivery cadence.
