An agent for everyone
Who is your Rep?
Everyone is immersed in the influencer economy but most people don't think about how hard it is to get started. Rep originally named Truss, came to me and Jamestown Apps to help them develop a marketplace for anyone who had an audience.
Aspiring influencers didn't need an agent because Rep would help them connect to brands directly. Brands loved it because they could search and tap into niches and micro-audiences easily. Rep was built mobile-first to fit cleanly into the average influencer's day-to-day but worked on all platforms to enable easy access at an office or on the go.
Adding Full-Service Campaigns
Helping brands hit their goals
The first version of Rep was a success but it was a simple marketplace to facilitate connection - free for influencers, brands paid a fee. Rep provided tools to bid, share and communicate but didn't get involved in the transaction.
Almost immediately requests from brands for automated or full-service ways to hit their goals rolled in. Surprisingly, we learned that many brand managers were new to the space and didn't know what a deal should look like.
We developed Rep Direct, a campaign feature designed to walk managers through a few easy steps and get matched influencers ready to support them within hours.
Finding the right vibe
Exploring ways to breakthrough
Early on, the company was called Truss. While the concept of support is relevant, it felt dated for many potential users and investors. We worked to rename it to something easy to say that felt natural for influencers. We also explored different colors, motifs and brand themes, aiming to strike a balance between tech and style.
